Hey,

Does anyone know a gun shop around Edmonton that could alter the R700 SPS to take a mag designed for the M14? or if this is even possible?

I was sure I read a thread on her awhile ago about a guy whose R700 that took m14 mags.

Thanks,
Tyler.

I have read an article about it but i'm in now way smart enough to make those kind of alterations myself, lol. Anyone with advice or know someone who can do it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a trigger gaurd assembly for sale on the EE that all you would need to do is alittle inletting and you should be good to go!

Can some legal beagle clarify the legality of that for me? An M-14 magazine that is used in a bolt actioned rifle would still have to be pinned at 5, no?

M-14 5/5 or 5/20 magazines are available. Other conversions use AIA, AI or HS magazines which are catch as catch can, and pricey. From that standpoint, a M-14 conversion has some merit, although the limit would be 5 shots. If AIA magazines would fit and function, there would be a 10 shot option.
There were US 'smiths doing M-14 conversions on 700s, for US NM shooting. These tended to use the rock and latch system, just like a M-14, so required rather extensive modifications to the receiver, stock and bedding.

My 700 takes highly modified M14 mags yes.It was a totally custom job and took Grens Vegter about 10-12 hours to complete.Since then he has been doing custom jobs with AIA .308 enfield mags.No need for pinning there.Readily availiable and pretty easy to get.
