Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 How does it shoot??

Slopok, have the same setup minus the brake and a different scope. What's your opinion on the millet scope? I have the trophy xlt 4-12x40 with the doa reticle, although I like the scope, recticle and think the clarity isn't to bad the eye relief is horrible. My gun fund isn't huge at the moment but I'm considering the millet 6-25x56mm with mildot and I'm looking for a little feedback on this product, if anyone else has some suggestion on a similiar scope in the $500 range feel free to chip in.

i love the scope. I dont have any problems with it yet. I basicly got it because the price seemed right. I was looking into the leopoulds and such but didnt have the coin and wanted to get shooting. I shoot it at 10x all day, tho the times i for get that i'm on 16x and shot the POI changed a little. But i dont used it much at all... havent tried paper at 300 with it yet. Just the gong.

Love mine as well

I loved the SPS tactical (.223) so much I bought a the .308 as well. I do find the stock a bit on the flimsy side though. Especially if I mounted a bipod on it. I did manage to change the stock on my .308 and my groups tightened up pretty significantly. From 4" to 1" at 200 yards. If you like the feel of that stock, Hogue does make Remington 700 stocks with an aluminium bed.

Shot these groups this morning. 175gr SMK from Federal at 100m. Stock Rem700 SPS tactical with Nightforce NXS. Yeah, the Force was with me.

I'd say it shoots okay. ;-)

Was wondering if any of you sps tac owners have tried the box mag conversion kits? If so what brand? How does it function? Ease of installation? There's quite a few options out there but thought maybe someone could point me in the right direction. Here's a few that I've found.

Remmy, I'm actually looking into getting the CDI percision bottom metal and mags. They look amazing. But then again there is always Badger Ord as well.

I personally have the 700 Police with the longer barrel and it shoots better than I'm capable of. I've done 500+ yard target shooting and it's been extremely accurate. I'd recommend it all day long!

I have the sps-v .308 26" in left hand , free floated and glass beded , with a bushnell 3200 5-15 tactical ,Remington umc prints 1-1 1/2 groups at 100 yards, my handloads with Berger 185 vld will print 1 1/4 3 round groups at 335 yards on steel All in I have spent alot to get this performance but much less than a custom build with a test target

Is that with the factory barrel? What twist?

My suggestions also what I have learned since I bought my R700 sps-v in .308 if you are stuck at a 700 $ and under price for a new rifle it's hard to beat a R700 because of the aftermarket upgrades you can slowly modify it into something a bit closer to one of a kind but if you compare final costs if you dish out say 1200-1500 $ For a savage or Remington say a savage 110 FCP HS Precision in .338 lapua this rifle is 1400$ but already has a good stock fluted barrel muzzle break detachable magazine with oversized relese and the acu trigger which is ok I hear and a scope mount ,if you were to buy a rifle like
This from the start you will save $

I possesses a sps tactical 308, a date not probleme, to its credit a good distance 2 moose, beware not only has the look :)

I have the .223 Remington SPS Tactical and I love the thing. I'm still breaking it in, it's only made a few trips to the range so far and I finally scraped up enough to put a Bushnell Tactical Elite 10x40 on it. So excited!! I do understand the complaints about the stock fore end being a little flexy. I'm sure as soon as I start shooting it more it'll need a little modification to stiffen it up.

Just picked up a basically brand new SPS tactical in .308 yesterday for a pretty awesome price, 960 including Optic, rings, and a 200$ trigger job :)
took it out to 275 and it was a piece of cake. Once i get better glass i'll send it out to 700.
