Remington 700 SPS Tactical in 308win

maybe Epps? but spend the little extra and get a 20" ACC with the 1/10 twist

You can head over to Sail at jane and highway 7 although the guy may try and hand you a .223 even though you ask for a .308

On the real though its a good store and I think they have some in stock.

what is the difference? I have seen a few people saying that the ACC is better, but is it just the twist rate that makes the difference?

I need to look into twist rates to understand what effect they have on accuracy, as I understand it, the faster the twist the more you stabilize heavier bullets. Is there a reference somewhere as to what twist rate is best for certain bullet weights?

Sorry to kinda hijack your thread but I didn't want to start a new one and figured that this was relevant to the conversation.

Cheers,
Sean

for 308 (it may depend on specific gun - they can be fickle, but generally:

1:13 for 155s
1:12 for damn near anything, especially 168s
1:10 for 168 and heavier, especially 175s

1:12 will stabilize 175s, but 1:10 maybe better
1:13 developed to maximize the 155gr Palma bullet, and probably won't see this twiost outside of custom guns, anyway. But it is s**tE with heavy bullets.

Can't go wrong with 1:12. If you find a 1:10 and were thinking of 175s anyway - go with it.

I've had "faster" twist (1:10) in order to stabilize "heavy" 175s and Hornady 178s at longer ranges when I was going through a "heavy is better" phase-- and I didn't notice any diminished performance with 168s when I got my hands on it for the right price. (read: free)

Rebarreled a third time with a high quality 1:12 to go down a different philosophical road about bullets (lighter is faster, and less time in wind blows less) and wanted to maximize for the 155 without giving up 175s if I come across them. Still shooting heavy bullets fine - but I like the "damn near anything" of the 1:12.

Williams Arms in Port Perry.

$695, and your choice of black or green. They also have rails for them.
I've had one for a year that I bought there, and I love it, it's a great little gun.

Good luck.
