Title says it all, if you were picking between the two guns which one would you pick and why?
-Remington 700 SPS (floorplate)
-Savage 11 FCNS (detachable mag)

Both in 22-250

Ever think about tweaking your rifle or upgrading with parts down the road or are you a "Keep it factory 'stock'" kinda guy ?

I like tweaking my 2 M700's.... Savage rifle allow some tweaking too. M700's have all kinds of darling parts upgrades to customize that .22-250 to your needs and wants. Triggers, bases, mounts, stocks, etc.

Enjoy !

Remington 700 vs Savage 11G in 308

Interesting question and replies - I was wondering the same thing about the Remingtons vs the Savage except that I was looking at a 308 with a 20" barrel for the Remington or a 22" for the Savage. Any comments, ideas etc?

I have a 243 in a 700, I also have a 223 in a savage. The 700 is "nicer", but the savage shoots better, its really a tough call. I really do beleive from my experience that FOR THE MONEY savage is the most accurate rifle around, but you likely wont be dissapointed either way,

Cdog.

the Savage is just as customizable as the Remington 700 with an equal amount of aftermarket crap available for it... Savage is a bit easier to work with IMO.

that said, i dont really see much of a difference between the two. i think for a light barreled rifle id go with the Savage, for a heavy barrel id most certainly go with the SPS-V. from what i hear the accuracy of the light-barreled SPS is often hit or miss, whereas with a Savage you can pretty much count on the fact that it will be accurate.

whichever one i could find a better deal on would probably make up my mind though. they are both good entry level rifles.

Out of the box I think the savage has the edge,I have a SPS in 300 Ultra mag that shoots moa or better but,i also have savages that shoot just as good or better.I like the accu trigger on the savage,if I was going to get another Savage I would get one with the hinged floor plate instead of the clip. But i would't hesitate to but another SPS either. And they are both about the same price

Own one of each

as i stated i own one of each and neither has ever let me down. i will say this however; i believe that the rem. action is more versatile for future re-barrelling custom projects. and my experience with all of my savages is that they have been less picky about the range of factory ammo they will digest accurately. every savage i have ever owned has shot under an inch at a hundred with factory ammo. and every custom rifle i have ever had built was on a rem. action.

good luck and good shooting,

i.
