REMINGTON 700 SPS

you just bought the gun and changed the barrel and stock? how accurate is it now? and what do you use it for?

Something like that.... . It's actually still at the smith's getting the work done on it. FYI, not just a straight barrel and stock swap. I'm having a USMC M40A1 "clone" built up (I refer to it as my "MK40A1"). I had the donor SPS action trued and the replacement stock has been pillar bedded - among other things. Going to be the "precision rifle" in my stable. I'll post pics and a review when I take delivery...

7mm SPS

I bought one in 7mm
I only shot cheap bullets /factory ones...
It's 2 MOA at 100 4 MOA at 200 ...so for my needs (for hunting) is good enough ....for now
However the barrel is not freefloated !!! Very dissapointed to find that out !
Pressure points have been eliminated by sanding them off but the stock is not solid anymore at the tip ...so it moves a bit barrely touching the barrel ...
YES the stock could have been better !
The finish ...I think I would prefer a stainless one or a blued one ...
The rest is ok ...
In a couple of words ...for my budget was ok back then ...now i'm sorry I didn't went with a tikka in wood stock for the looks or laminated and plastic for durrability.
Maybe next year I'll replace it with a tikka ....
By the way I cant say i'm a good shooter ...it's my first rifle and nobody else shot it ...so the grouping could be better and maybe even better with premium bullets.....

But hey ...we have to make a compromise if we cannot afford expensive stuff ...

gabriel999,

There's nothing stopping you from replacing the synthetic stock on your SPS with a nice laminate! Check out the stocks fellow CGN'er 103159 has for sale in the "Gun Show Seller's Exchange" Got a beauty new take-off grey laminate LSS stock for sale there. I just put one on my 7mm Rem Mag. Looks great, shoots great!
