Remington 700 SS 5r Milspec!!! NEW PICTURES!!!

Scope

Uummm, a scope is not necessary to shoot accurately at 1000 yds. High power scopes are not needed for 1000 yd. Had a hunter class 308 (1000 yd. BR) with a 6X Leupold. I never won a relay with it, but a lady I lent it to did. In 1000 yd BR the target for scopes and iron sights are the same except the color. Scoped rifle has blue rings, iron sight target rings are black.

Shoot your rifle as it is. Work on load development and shooting technique. After experiencing the shortcomings of scope you have, a more informed decision on its replacement can be made.

You can never go with good optics to early. The $$ waste is the road to learning what makes a good optic.. shoot enough to figure out what nacks you like best about a scope and thats when u realise where $ was wasted.

Ie.. Ive found I dont like 50mm objectives because they raise the scope. I use a 42 now and love it. like every scope,,, its clear as day. If i need an extra 10mm to suck up some last pinch of light its probally past the legal shooting time anyway.

mil dots are the only way to switch from targets at multiple distance on the fly. To use them correct a fixed zoom or FFP is needed. with a .5 mil mark reticule works best.

.1 MRad turrets as well will make you a better shot using mil dots than a moa turret would. simply because of no math if you miss on a called shot but see the splash. Moa turrets however you can more fine tune your zero. Good if you shoot with the center of the cross hairs all the time.

The sightron SIII fixed scopes are a great choice. At the moment they are moa turrets but they are coming out with the parts to change to .1mrad this fall.

The scope both burton and I use on our long range rifles. Used it for a year and love it. would buy the same one tomorrow if I had to chose a new one.

MSRP - $600 here in canada from www.hirschprecision.com --- the place to buy them.

you can buy a $1000+ Night force but unless its FFP all your doing is bench because they have no fixed zoom. the compact is a 10x max but does not come with the good TMR reticule. The 3x15x50 is nice but not worth 5 extra zoom in my opinion. After moving south all i shoot is 1000y + with the 6xc. max so far 1860y. A 10x was fine.
