Remington 700 SS 5R ROCKS

Thats enough!! You guys are going to drive up demand and the prices will skyrocket...

Seriously though, I'm very impressed with mine as well in .308. Just came back from the range this afternoon and I still have a smile on my face.

I just traded for one...I sure am excited to try it out. :) This one came w/ Leupold rings and bases so last night I mounted a Bushnell 6-24x Elite 4200 I had on it...I'm ready to go!

I'm waiting for my McMillan stock to come and then i'm going to put it on mine :D can't wait. I'll take a nice pic when it comes, the rifle and the target

I have replaced the bipod with a smaller one, and mounted it forward. Its a fun rifle.

Any of you shooters out in the coquitlam area?
I might have a 5r, and dont know anyone else who shoots LR, so its not as fun as it could be.

You wouldn't happen to be come down for Club 600 shoot on Thursday would you ??
What is the Club 600 of which you speak - am hoping it involves access to a 600M range the LML.

Shoot at Mission, 300 yard range and very different from range 7. Seen a couple 5Rs from this thread down there. Now how is you "might have a 5r", sometimes the light plays tricks or?

That is a beautiful range! Hell once I get mine I might have to make the trip over there just to shoot it at a range like that :p The local range here is only 300 yards but ive got a few nice spots out in my hunting areas I could setup for 600+

Will just have to wait and see :)

If you're shooting BCRA you'll find that there's an even nicer range within a few minutes of home, but since the Navy took it over they've made huge concessions on it's use to the neighbours - so you may only get to shoot it once a year.

I traded a gun for a New in the box 5R a few months back but the Busch & Lomb 4000 scope I have won't adjust low enough to get on target at 100 yds. I only shot 6 rounds through it.
My 5R has the X-Mark PRO Adjustable trigger but I have mixed feelings about it, from what I have heard. This is one of the few New in the box firearms I have ever owned. I had too many guns to sight in this fall and health issues so I didn't get a real chance to sight it in after I installed a different scope.

Hi Marc,
Club 600 is held at Volkes once a month , you have to have a full bcra / dcra membership to be able to join in , all the shooting is done a 600 usually 3 relays per shooter 15 rounds pluss two siters and we pull our own targets.
Its a great way to really stretch out your 5r.

Might as in I don't like to broadcast over the internet, that's just me.

I do like to shoot though, and my 700 yard spot isn't cutting it anymore

Thanks Chris, will look into it (around $125 a year it looks so pretty reasonable if think of it as a $10 to $20 drop in). Do have means to head off road and find a range but can likely learn something from other people there shooting. Seems like have something set for every weekend April to Sept.

Had the same issue - 20MOA rail and .015 through Burris inserts, now only .005 and just on at 100 using up all down adjust - 20 MOA internal should be enough to reach 700 so should work okay (anything further and will have to zero scope again with other inserts).

Suppose it is a bit of stretch that a person posting on "canadiangunnutz" may own a gun...

In the white rock / south surrey area it's out the window of your Mercedes SL550!!!

Seeing as you have Gangcouver listed as your location I can see how one could make that mistake.

I'm now also curious about the might have a 5r statement? Did you buy into some 5r time share or something? I guess it's a Vancouver thing sort of like the housing. You might own a house means you have the mortgage and 5 families in unauthourized suites to cover the payments. In that Case might own it is fairly accurate".

Hi Al...Jeff/1911 here. I hope you are keeping well... :)

That is interesting...after mounting my Bushnell 6-24X on my 5R...I too maxed out the elevation adjustment getting it on target at 100 yards with Leupold R&B's. Mine wouldn't go any higher than zero at 100 yards!

BUT MAN, DOES IT SHOOT!!! With Federal AE 150 grain loads, it just insists on cutting a ragged hole in the target - time after time!

I went with a Zeiss Conquest and rapid z 1000 reticle on mine. Not as precise as dialing it in, but very fast and I have 100 to 1000 yards. Very quick and accurate combo.

I've got one in 223 and 308. When I moved my NF scope from the 308 with the NF 20 MOA rings and base to the 223 with a Leupold Mk4 15 MOA base and rings I could not get it to go low enough...had a friend take the knobs off the scope and adjust it down. A royal pain when I swap scopes back and forth to have to adjust each time.

And yes, I like m 5R's, even trying to find one on 300 WM so I can have triplets!!!

Have .223 and .308 as well, will pass on the .300WM but should a .338 come along then the .308 will have a big brother.

Time share... good one. You must still be on some sort of medication, know you're not that funny :)
