In September of this year, I bought a brand new Remington 700 Target Tactical chambered in 308. I put of Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP. Nice setup.

First thing that was odd was I was getting huge point of impact shifts on the elevation.....8 inches at 50 yards. At first, I couldn`t figure it out. Scope was nice and tight. Everything looked good. Then when I got home, I discovered that the two bolts that held the action down to the stock were completely loose. It came like that from Remington. Ok....tightened these up and took the rifle to the range again.

I figured I would try the magwell. Loaded 4 in the mag. Wow.....I was never able to chamber a thing using the mag. Everything would just jam up. It would scratch the brass really bad. Impossible to chamber cartridges this way. I could chamber them fine one by one....but forget about using the magazine.

So, I brought back the rifle to the place that sold it to me. They sent the rifle off to Remington. Six weeks later after many calls, I get the feedback that the rifle is unrepairable and must be scrapped. Remington will refund the store.

After many discussions with the store manager they finally agree to refund me my money. At first they only wanted to give me a credit.

Bottom line.....poor quality control at Remington. Not impressed. Also, not easy to get your money back if the product you buy is faulty.

But, I guess I believe this was a one of because I ended up buying another Remington.......this time a 700P + a Cadex Urban Strike chassis. Looks really awesome. I have not yet taken it to the range.....can`t wait!

Lots of peoples think a 700 sps... Is the same as the most expensive but with a cheaper stock.
Quality control cost money. At 600-700$ if anyone think its the same barreled action as a 1200 -1300 rifle, well, good for them.

Remington said that they would refund the store? In my eyes Remington is standing behind their product. The store wanted to give you a store credit? One way to look at it is, the store wanted to keep your business and make things right. As for the loose bedding screws, that would have been the first thing I checked if the rife didn't group after 3 rounds.

Am I satisfied with Remington.....two ways of looking at it:

Yes..........they refunded the store which refunded me. In the end that`s why I bought another Remington.

No, not really............First of all......not impressed with their quality control. Basic stuff. Sorry, but I would expect better attention to detail in a product that I am going to detonate a cartridge developing 60,000 psi of pressure approximately 6 inches away from my face. Also, I bought a brand new rifle that didn`t work from the start. Why does it take 3 months to get refunded? Also, the rifle I bought wasn`t a $600 rifle.....its was over $1800. My expectations are higher than this for a rifle of this price range.

Remington has had many issues with newer model 700 rifles. CNBC did a story on them a few years ago. You would
think they would have improved their quality control. I like Remington, I have a few of the older 40x custom shop rifles
that I ordered from them. But, I haven't bought any in a long time because of their issues. I purchase the used guns
they make because you know they work. Easy to restore old quality.
