308 is my caliber and sure would love a set of irons as back-up for the optics I would eventually mount. A scout version would be optimal! Not sure which of Remington's models best fit my preferred configuration, but I'm sure you couldn't go too wrong with any of the current offerings.

If they could do a short action with a 20” medium profile barrel (like a #3 contour, say 0.68-0.7” at the muzzle), with a flip up peep on a rail or rear base, good front sight, decent flush fitting DBM, 7lbs , that would be gold. Think pseudo-scout or ‘practical rifle’.

I like the sps I hunt with, the only things I'd change is I'd get the next one in stainless and short action (probably 308).
