I have a new 700 VLS coming in 6MM...

I've heard that the VLS typically has a pressure point near the forend.

What are guys having the best luck with as far as accuracy...

leave the pressure point or fully float the barrel???

I've got one as well. Found that free foating the barrel sure made a difference in accuracy. Used mine last year at Burns Lake for their 1000yd shoot. Hornady 105gr Amax @ 3000fps worked very well indeed with a mild load of R22. Stable and very accurate out to 1000yds.

I have that same rifle, I left the stock alone and the rifle is extremely accurate. I load 55gr Sierra bullets over H380, 4000 FPS. I just played with the OAL until I found what it likes. I could not get as good groups with Hornady or Nosler bullets.

The "pressure point" is there to force alignment between the barrel and stock in case something warps or the barrel is crooked to the action in the first place. Nothing to do with accuracy, set it free!
