I am a lefty and I have hunted with a Rem 700bdl for about 15 years now and I want to get something new, I was looking at the browning a-bolt stainless stalker till I saw the xcr, has anyone bought a xcr and could tell me how this rifle groups?
My bdl was accurate but I had to make some adjustments to the stock to make the barrel free float in order to get it to group well and I dont want to go through the same thing this time.

I bought an XCR in 375 h&h last year. The plastic stock sucks. I bought a wood stock for it . It is a good shooter, 1 inch groups @ 100 yards with 270 grain barnes tsx loaded to max. The only adjustment i made was reducing the trigger pull from about 100 lbs down to 3 lbs. The trynite coating seems to work, no rust or stains even from blood.

Most of the factory synthetics are not very good. I have a Bell and Carlson in front of me and there is day and night difference between them and the factory stock.

Hey GEORGE7mm the stock is just plastic and it feels like tuperware. The over moulded grips aren't too bad but it just did not feel right. I would use the plastic stock during a wet coastal hunt as the acuracy was also good with it. The parting lines from the moulding process aren't pretty, but could be removed. So for me it boiled down to liking the look and feel of the wood stock. Over all i really like the XCR.

I have one in 30/06 and it shoot 1" @ 100 m,5 shots groups.
The stock is not bad for a hunting rifle, but no pillar bedding...:(
I made some aluminium pillars and drilled the stock to tight fit them and now it's a lot better.
