Remington 700P LTR vs Tikka T3 Tactical

Which one is the better overall rifle?

I'm willing to bet that the majority of posters in this thread have never had their index finger anywhere near a factory Remington 40X trigger.
It stomps the X-mark Pro and the T3 trigger (which is decent for a factory trigger) and will adjust down reliably to a way lower pull...20 ozs is safely achievable.
If the new LTR comes with a 40X that would be a huge plus in it's favour, but I have only known them to come with an XMP, many of the XCR tacticals come equipped with 40X's but they're a 1500$ rifle these days.

My ltr has a 40 x but i had to get gravel to install it it came with xmark. I find my sps tactical with the hogue fits better and the xmark i put to 2.5 pounds just like my 40x and its quite good. Im not really impressed with the stock on the ltr i like the hogue better. My tikka stock is better too.

After looking at video reviews for Tikka T3, I hate the stock. It looks el cheapo compare to Remington 700LTR.

I am thinking to get the Tikka CTR since it is $800 cheaper compare to Tikka T3 tactical and then swap the chasis with MDT HS3. What do you guys think?

A couple of things that I like from the Remy is the fluted barrel and the HS stock.

We took my son's T3 in 300WSM and replaced his stock with a great Bell and Carlson Aluminum block stock.
Average group sizes for the 180 gr Barnes went from 1 inch at 100 yards to a ragged hole from .25 to .375 on centers.
Most of the T3 Varmint rifles I have seen shoot in around 1MOA with the odd group around .5 moa so would likely also
benefit from a bedding job or a better stock. Those that have gone that route confirm this.

I'd give up if I could only shoot 1 moa with a varmint t3 !
The 300wsm and other heavy recoiling calibers benefit more from a recoil lug change than a stock change. The factory alloy lug will deform after a number of rounds and no longer provide a solid path for the recoil force. They are certainly easier to shoot in better stocks or chassis, but not necessarily more accurate.

In my opinion the T3 Tactical just carries more pretty stuff than I have a real need for at a cost that is too much higher than the T3 Varmint or Super Varmint.

I would opt for one of the Varmint models for sure if buying a T3. My son bought a T3 Lite in 300 WSM and the forestock was way too flexible for reliable accuracy so
you should factor in the cost of a new Bell & Carlson stock with a full aluminum bedding block if that is the way you want to go. I am uncertain on the
T3 Varmint model stocks as to whether they are rigid enough to maintain accuracy in all hunting conditions but in any case I would do the B&C stock replacement anyway after seeing the boy shooting .25 to .3 inch groups at 100 meters and sub half moa to longer ranges.

For me, I bought a Rem 700 P LTR in .308 Winchester and love it. Shoots every bit as well as my Son's T3. My cost was $900. His was $1200 plus about $400 for the B&C stock. I added the Jewel and a Sightron S-TAC 2.5 to 17.5 scope, rail etc and am good to go. All he added over the stock was a Zeiss scope using Optilock mounts.
