Remington 700sps

I was looking for some info.The 700sps is that a quality manufactured action or are there corners that are cut in manufacturing .Comparing it to the 700 ADL, BDL, XCR, LTR or the 700P etc....I was wondering about it as a possible "project rifle"

they look the same except for a antibind rail that the old ones dont have. other than finish they are a pure 700. maybe even better than the old ones.

yup the difference is only in the cosmetic metal finish and the quality of the stock.

the exterior finish is the only difference between the stainless SPS action and the others....the bolts are nicely jewelled and the bolt handle has a decent finish unlike the exterior of the receiver.

They clean up quite nicely if polished and bead blasted with finer glass beads than the factory uses....

the anti-bind slot is not unique to the SPS, all 700's have had it since about 1973..
