Just wondering if anyone here ran a 710, and how they aged? Better with use or worse?

Against my recommendation, a friend bought one in 30-06 4 years ago.

He now tells me I don't know squat about the 710, because not only has
it performed without issues [2 Moose, 1 Elk and a Muley] But it shoots
sub moa at the range. Only upgrade was optics. Go figure!! Dave.

That adds up to 4 shots that actually went off. lol Two brothers just started hunting and I helped them to get started, one bought a 700, the other a 710. The 710 felt like there was sand in the action, and extraction was very difficult. but it did shoot around moa. He did use that 710 for one season, but the next spring he bought a new 700 to replace it.

Coworker had one in 3006 - after a box of shells the bolt release failed as he was unloading the gun while hunting - pulled the bolt right out of the rifle...

I used to work at a gun store in the early 2000s when these first came out. That was actually a common issue with brand new guns, not even fired. Over time from customers (and employees) aggressively cycling the actions the bolt stops would break or wear out and the bolt would come right out of the rifle while cycling the action.

I've never shot a 710, but I did shoot a 770 in 243 this summer. Accuracy was sufficient for big game hunting, around 1.5moa at 100m with 2 different factory loads. Otherwise it was very gross gun to shoot

I bought one when they first came out but mine came with iron sights. Shot my largest deer to date with it. I never had a defect other than the bolt felt a little wonky. I put maybe 4 boxes of 30/06 through it, then traded up for a Ruger KM77 Mark 2.

I’ve had mine since they came out. Haven’t had any issues with it. Good enough rifle for what I do. Put a better scope and a Boyd’s stock on it. Shot 40 plus deer and a couple moose with it. That being said it’s not a tack driver, the action did get better with time, and there are much much better value priced rifles out there. Not complete junk but probably not far off
