Remington 722 Build

Make a 22-250 out of a 244 Rem model 722. I realize the barrel has to be changed. Is this model a good candidate for a light varmint or predator build or would it be just as efficient to pick up an older 700 Rem factory 22-250? Your thoughts?

Stiff, strong action with very fast locktime. In some ways, better than a 700. But rear locking lugs means you can't load real hot ammo. The brass will stretch, like a Lee Enfield.

Rear locking lugs? I don't understand. I think you may have this confused with a 788.

Wrong action. The 722/721/725 were the predecessor to the 700. You are thinking of the 788, an economy class rifle built from the 60s to the 80s or so. The 722 is a two lug, front locking, tubular receiver, short action. All you will need is a 22-250 bbl, and a take off from a 600/660/700/7 will work fine. - dan
