I recently traded for what was billed as a Remington 722.

It is chambered in 30-06, from cursory googling this suggests it might be a model 721?

Anything to know about these rifles? Approximate value? They seem to be all over the board.

Guessing the recoil pad is aftermarket it looks modern

Seem like interesting guns, looking forward to trying it out.

more pics and maybe a range report when I get it.

Looks plain but well made.

I keep getting different info on if it is based on the mauser action or a pushfeed similar to the 700?

Its the predecessor to the model 700. Its not a controlled round feed like the mauser. Its worth what you can get for it, but I recently sold a model 722 in 257 roberts for $400 and it was in good condition.

Looks like it was made in 1949 by the date code.

Floorplate has a guys name and address in Vanderhoof etched into it.

I wonder how many moose it took down in the 50's.

Very good rifles as far as I'm concerned. Had both the short and long action varieties pre-1950. Still have my 270. Both units have Great triggers. Stock set up was great for my 5' 10" variety

These are also touted as having a very fast firing pin lock-time as I seem to remember. These cheap but accurate rifles helped contribute to Winchesters model 70 demise before 1964. These were A LOT cheaper to make/buy , yet offered a great hunting rifle. Looks good
