I'm thinking of picking up a clean 722 from a friend. It's in 222 Rem Mag.

However, the safety operation seems odd. When the rifle is cocked, the safety won't engage. It will only engage when the bolt is open....when you close the bolt, the safety stays on, and can be disengaged easily to fire.

The rifle is in great shape, and the price is right. The owner says trigger has always been this way, and is how they should be.

I don't think so, I am sure the 722 in .257 I had back in the 80's had a safety that could be engaged when the rifle was cocked........

Any 722 folks out there who can help?

Thanks tiraq and Dan B, figured you guys would know......

Dan, it came with 250 rounds and a small bag of brass. I'll be looking for a set of dies, etc.

Can't wait to get it cleaned up and out the the range.

The safety issue will get addressed as well somehow. The rifle functions fine otherwise.
