I've read some pretty poor reviews of the Remington 7400, but I'm looking for a 30-06. Local store has a 7400 1991 Anniversary edition still in the box.
My uncle has one, a standard 7400 in 30-06, it's been his beater deer getter for a few decades now. It has never let him down, he doesn't clean it very often as well and is still very accurate.
There is nothing wrong with the 7400's if you give them a little love once in a while, the just have to be kept clean (I mean the action not the barrel). Have used 2 of them in 30-06 for years without a hick-up.
