I have been looking for a magazine for my Remington 30-06 742 for many years.

I got this 742 from my Dad [ He had no need for it any more ]

this 742 is in great shape and I can only shot it 1 shot at the time, not fun.
so I would like to buy a new or used magazine for it even buy a few of them.

a link would be nice of a phone number to a shop would good too.

thanks for your help.

if this is in the wrong section move it plz, I don't have accesse to the for sales section on the forum and could not post it in the WTB section.

They are very common mags to find. Try any gun store in your area first. If not, give Epps a call (he has a banner at the top of the page).

Does that gun not take the same mags as the 7400's??

Yes, 74, 740, 742, and 7400 all take the same mag.

Also, if I remember right, even the mags for the 7600, etc, pump rifle will fit these semis, but will not lock the bolt back after the last shot.

I know little about it my Dad used it for many years he bought it new in 1979/80 and I got it in 1999 after he pased away.

I never shot it in semi auto,

thanks for the info.

all the my local shops tell me its too old and they can't help me.

even one shop ownner told me this rifle was dangerous that there was a problem with the trigger and safety and the gun goes off by it's self.

my Dad used this for many years with no problem, and has had many deers and moose along the years, even a few beers and coyotees. [ yes low loads ]

Lol those mags are extremely common as said before, tonnes and tonnes around... I think between my grandfather and I we must have about 14 laying around here... Not hard to get a hold of at all!

We've got 3 in the house, one is a 740 woodsmaster, my great grandpas from 1959, mine is a model 74 sportsman, and my grandpa has a model 7400... All great guns, all have never had a problem with the trigger or any other part

To the OP if this is correct. Here you go.

Good luck with this. I have found that any of the 742's that had feeding issues (not the infamous 742 jam), they were all related to the use of the new style, plastic bottom, mags. If you can get ahold of an original all steel mag, this issue should be removed from the equation.
