well it turned out Brownells was sold out of the Mench wrenchs, and it seems like anyone who has them instock doesn't want to ship to Canada, so it was off to the machine shop...
After measuring the diameter of the nut on a 742 to make sure I was in the ballpark, I found this old beatup 3/4 socket, and went to work.
I had turned down part of it in the past, not sure for what, but a quick cut with a zip disk, and it worked. I had actually only intended to do a test fitting but the testfitting did the trick.
In truth a wobble extension would be better, and when I put it back on I will use one, as well as turning the outside down a little further on the lathe, but gollllllly, worked nice.
