Remington 742 Bipod adapter

Hey guys,

Im looking to throw a "harris" style bipod on my Rem 742 woodsmaster. I know it needs a swivel stud to attach, which the gun doesnt have. Ive seen adapters for the 7400 but they list on the ads )not for 742). Anyone know what I can install or who makes a bipod attachment? Or how hard the 7400 mount would be to fit on the 742? Thanks

You may be able to adapt the 742 BDL Uncle Mikes setup. The BDL forend QD swivel is longer and sticks out from the forend.

I actually just bought one from cabelas yesterday for like 12$. The only problem seems to be that the swivel isn't low enough to mount a bi pod. It looks as though the front handguard will get in the way.

I'm thinking I may try to drill a swivel into the handguard, but I may run the risk of it hitting the gas tube.

Any idea where I can get a synthetic handguard for this rifle?

Don't drill into the forend, the action bars take up a good portion of this space and move on firing.
Have you considered a barrel clamp style bipod?
Could you lengthen the QD swivel to drop down under the forend?
