Remington 750 Bolt Handle options?

Hey folks.

I've got a Remmy Semmy that does its part to fill the freezer, but I hate the little flat bolt handle. My big mitts of hands can barely grasp it to begin with, but now I've put a lower optic on it and it's even worse to try to get a hold of.

Where can I find a larger aftermarket one? Or if I machine my own, is there anything special to keep in mind? (Weight? Strength? Etc. )


Any guidance is appreciated.

My buddy bubba'd a tube over his handle with JB Weld and painted with great results.

Never thought about an extension for my 7400 before. Might not be a bad idea, but I would be careful not to make it too heavy as it could impair cycling of the action.

I really like my 35 Whelen 7400. Perfect for dispatching multiple targets in quick succession.

How's the jb bubba holding up? Does it get much use?

Yeah, i figured hollow aluminum to keep the weight down.

What about popping the cocking handle off and taking it down to the local metal fab shop. They should be able to weld a short extension on to it without much trouble.

Thanks! At the time the LGS had 1/2 dozen of these to choose from and chose the 1 with the nicest stock. Check out the fiddleback on the forend.

The Pachmayr recoil pad and Uncle Mike's sling swivels were nice upgrades to this fine rifle plus a Timney trigger.

He uses his rifle very little. Probably 10 shots annually to prep. for moose hunting. Homemade bolt still holding. Personally I would follow the welding shop suggestion. Have a flat tacked on and you grind/file to suit.

How about paracord wrap soaked in epoxy?

I don't have any problems using mine stock, but this got me thinking of drilling a hole in the operating handle and putting a large split ring (key fob type) through the hole. It'll give you something large to grab hold of even with mitts on, and if you want you could easily remove the split ring and go back to the stock set up with just the hole in the handle.

Hmmm. Interesting idea. Light weight. Not sure about having dangly bits whipping about though...

Not a bad option, but if I'm going to go to that trouble...it doesn't look terribly difficult to machine a new one.
