I have a 750 carbine in .35 Whelen. It shoots very well. The R3 pad really cuts the recoil. It has NEVER jammed but I keep it very clean. It shoots all my reloads from 200 to 250 grains without a hitch. It performs very nicely with Remington factory 200 grain loads. I have not run it over a chrono but on game performance is spectacular. I don't feel that it loses very much over the rifle version. The compact carry of the carbine more than makes up for any loss.

The "klingon forehead" style forend model - that would be the Remington 750 and the funky new foreend.
Yep - the 35Whelen doesn't lose much with an 18 1/2" tube but handloading beats the often enemic factory loads. I make 2400MV out of my 7600 pump carbine (18 1/2") using Alliant's 59.5gr of ReL15 and a Hornady 250SP. Book perfect and a hunting hammer.

Dont mean to hijack: But is there any velocity loss for it it being in a semi action vs. a bolt or pump?
My 7600 35 Whelen carbine (18.5") also LOVES RL15 and Nosler 225g Accubonds. Accuracy was hard to determine as the pump wore an Aimpoint last year but will be toppped with a Leupold LPS in '08. Even with the reddot she was MOA! The carbine 18.5" sure is easy to carry with a knoxx NRS pistol grip stock on it and kwik sling. I was also considering the 750 carbine, however I went with the 7600 because synthetic fore ends are available as are the Knoxx NRS stocks. The reputation of the 7400 turned me off the semi and onto the pump. With a pump you also have the legal ability to carry a 10 round mag.
I've had both a 35 Whelen semi and pumps too and would say there is no appreciable difference in velocities from my chronograph. There might be a slight difference but not much.
FYI -a comparison of chrony readings- same box of ammo (Remington 250 grain Soft Point RN #R35WH2) on different occasions
- 700 Classic bolt 22" - 2361 fps,
- 7400 semi 22" - 2352, 2325 fps,
- Custom Mauser 20" - 2280, 2232, 2333, 2276fps
