Remington 760 and 7600 Carbines ? Any limited editions ?

Haven't gotten into the 760/7600 game yet, but have been seriously considering it. I've been in the market for a bigger caliber than my 7mm08, been toying with the idea of getting a 30-06.

I understand you can get a LH safety for them? Other than the safety pump actions tend to be pretty ambidextrous.

What sort of accuracy do you guys get with these rifles?
They aren’t as accurate as an entry level bolt action. They are basically a shotgun with a rifle barrel. The barrel can’t be free floated. The LH safety should be easy. I even saw somewhere a guy put magpul sga 870 furniture on one by using a 12g/20g stock and fore end adaptor kit

The 760/7600 have a fully free floated barrel, and can show pretty good accuracy. Will they win a BR competition, probably not, but a bit of stoning and polishing of the trigger, and not using a barrel band front sling stud(go slide mounted) you’ll get pretty acceptable hunting accuracy.

My 20” bbl’d 760 in 30/06 will shoot reloaded 150’s like this at 100 meters.(2850 fps)

Kills deer very well too……..

The last 3006 Remington pump I did a deep cleaning on and worked up loads for put 5 into 2 1/4" at 200 meters using 180 Seirras .
More than accurate enough for any hunting rifle out to 300 yards.

Can't be further from the truth. You are either repeating something you once heard, or just making stuff up. Either way, utterly wrong..
I have had several. They are accurate enough but it is true that it is basically built on a 20 gauge 870 receiver. I consider them more comparable to a lever action that can use pointed bullets than being comparable to a bolt action for practical purposes

They are accurate enough
But you said they weren't.
basically built on a 20 gauge 870 receiver.
The 870s 12 and 20 gauge were built on the same receiver size until the mid 70s, the 20 was sized down only then. So no, wrong again!

Who considered them to be comparable to a bolt action?
They aren’t as accurate as an entry level bolt action.
There are many written articles proving otherwise..
Maybe because you can't shoot either accurately you come up with this conclusion? Possibly a YOU issue...

Geez guy I just said they aren’t as accurate as a good bolt action but I liked them anyway as a brush gun. There was no minimum word count on this essay

Nope. What you said!!
''They aren’t as accurate as an entry level bolt action."
"it is true that it is basically built on a 20 gauge 870 receiver"
The 20 gauge 870 receiver didn't come to be over 20yrs after the 760 was introduced. Until then 20 was built on the larger 12 gauge receiver.
