Remington 7600 22-250 rebarrel buildup

The 7600's are the easiest to convert to any other caliber because of the one piece barrel extension.

The 760's use a two piece barrel extension with right hand threads, and I believe they converted to left hand threads in the late 70's

I would highly recommend anyone wanting to try building one of these to start with a 7600. The two piece barrel extensions are a pain in the neck.

That being said I did a conversion on this old 760 which dates in the early 50's. It's now chambered in 25-06

Now the .473 bolt face kind of limits the number of cartridges one could use. How would a fella go about switching boltfaces?

Any input would be appreciated

What a neat project. It would be nice to have the skillto do that kind of thing with your own hands. It would be a lot of money to get armorer to do the work.

You would need a different bolthead. How many sizes did Remington make? .222 and .223 have been mentioned, different models over the years. Any others?
