Lots "looking", very few "find".

Still possible for your gunsmith to buy a factory/new 35 Whelen barrel from Remington and fit to a 7600 30-06 or 270 "donor" gun.

I won't sell the Whelen pump I have either, but a couple of locals have gone the re-barrel route quite happily. It's about a $ 350 - $ 400 touch, but at least " you gets what you wants " !

deadeyes40 - first welcome to CGN

I typically see one or two good ones a year at gunshows, gunshops, EE or by word of mouth I could buy, but I have one already too. But I have my ear pretty much on the 35cal rail which helps me to hear about them. FWIW many make the misstake of trying to dicker and screw around to get a lower price when they come upon one for sale. If it's a good specimen and priced close to "in there" I'd just slap down my $$$. I've owned a few and that's worked for me. I KNOW the ones I've snaged would not be mine if I dragged my feet deciding to purchase. You could try a WTB on the EE also.

Good luck - hope you find one to suit you.

BTW - Wonksy's "carrot" above is actually my photo taken of my 7600 35Whelen carbine - it's a good shooter and a keeper too - http://35cal.com/loading.html#7600carbine
