I found these available. The ATI, Blackhawk SpecOps with recoil reduction and the Mesa Tactical Low-Tube, NEA & the S&J. Which of these have people tried and like, or don't like?

I will mainly be using irons but had thought of getting a rail and scoping it.

PS, probably the dumbest ever question, do I need the buffer & spring when using an AR stock on a different gun? I'm guessing no...

I find ATI stocks in general very flimsy and insubstantial. The only one I have kept, out of several I've owned, is on a .17HM2. It adjusts length quickly, allowing me to adjust the stock to fit my granddaughter and then back again for me. It hasn't broken (yet) but I am treating it with kid gloves, expecting it to snap at any second. If it were more expensive, I'd be pissed. For what it costs, it's okay.

The SpecOps is on two of my shotguns and seems well-made. The recoil-reduction feature seemed not to be working on mine, until a post here on CGN suggested using a loose hold. That made all the difference. If I were to buy another replacement shotgun stock, this would be it. The model made for 20-gauge Rem 870's fits your 7615 as well.

I haven't tried the others on your list.

I have the BLACKHAWK SpecOps Adjustable Stock for a Remington 870 20 Gauge with No Recoil Suppression (NRS) on my 7615 and I am pleased with it. I can't comment on your other suggested options as I have not tried them.

I would go with the Blackhawk model......but the non-recoil stock.

Barring that, I would also maybe go with Mesa Tactical if you can spare a few more bucks.

NEA and S&J, I can't offer a comment on.

I made a 20guage to 12guage adapter out of a single point sling attachment that mounts between the buttstock and the receiver so I can use any Rem 870 12 guage aftermarket stocks if I want to.

Is that the one with the angled down stock? How does that one feel?

Ive used one on an 870 and the angle isn't a whole lot different from what I recall.

But using the stock sights was easier witht he non-recoil model based on where the cheek will end up.

On a .223, Im not sure how much recoil there will be and whether you will get smacked in the face like a shotty.

If you want recoil control, go with a set up where the tube is straight back.

Sounds like the NEA is your best bet, or Messa. I would never buy an ATI stock. S&J (Brobee) is too high for irons. Blackhawk is very plasicy, but the grip is comfortable. Post some pics when you are done.
