Remington 7615 Tac. Rifle

rd, it's a Leapers but I got it from the US before all of the US State dept. BS. It's taken a pretty good beating bouncing around in the front box of my quad and I've had no issues with it so far. I have had it on my M14 and AR180B as well. For the money I'd say it's not a bad deal.

Thanks. I ordered mine based purely on price point, but got a little nervous when I found some Leapers-bashing on the Optics forum. Glad to hear that yours is holding up on a .308.

It's interesting how most owners want to go out and modify and customize their rifles with the latest and the greatest. Call me crazy bit why not just fit in with the 'sporting arms crowd'. Isn't making your firearm look more hinky and oh so zombie killing scary, kind of an in your face attitude? People that don't know, would look at that beautiful customized 308 ( it really is cool in my opinion) and start screaming 'he has a machine gun' . This scenario does take place. Mine shoots great, with the ghost ring sites and I know I could customize the heck out of it. Any folder fitting an 870 20 gauge is supposed to fit. Putting mag pul floor plates makes removing the 5 rounders a snap. Custom is cool, but sometimes stock is much more discreet. Now I do have an hinky looking 760 pump in 308, with some metal 10 rnd mags, but thats another thread. Pump rifles are just plain great.

You make some valid points however, while the cool factor is up there on mine, I built it as more of a practical matter. I spend a great deal of the time in the bush and needed something compact. Either for packing in the quad or slung when I'm hiking. What better than a light, folding .308. The 7600 mod fit the bill.

When I want to fit in with the "sporting arms crowd" I have numerous other rifles to choose from.:) That .308 is a working gun not a crowd pleaser. Aside from the fact that I maybe see 10 or 12 people a month (they don't run screaming machine gun), in the proper vernacular, I could give a rat's ass.

All the local CO could say when he first saw mine was "holy crap, where can I get one of those?" When I told him I built it starting with a factory Remi 7600 Police he said "holy s**t, I'll give you a call."

Anyway, so what if it looks like gun bling. All I have ever received is compliments, it's a working gun, shoots like a hot damn, and no one runs away screaming baby killer. All there has been, is interest in the rifle itself.

Depends on where you live I guess.:p

BTW, when I go to a hunt camp with the sporting arms crowd, I take all of my non-restricteds. Some are pretty well pimped out. Guess what the boys want to shoot? A stock M14s or a Sage. Same rifle, different configuration. Functions the same but one is a helluva lot more accurate.

Also, that isn't "any folder", it's a custom job that ATI, Butler Creek et al can't even come close to.:p
