Remington 7615P short barrel, any interest?

Myself and Gallen270 have been itching for shorter barrels on our 7615P's. OK, I'll level with you, he came up with the idea, and I'm hooked on it.:D The idea is being run by several board sponsors.

To make the project more attractive for a willing manufacturer, would any of you be interested in a short 7615 barrel? The current inquiry is for a 12.5", 1:9 twist, 5.56 chamber, threaded barrel.

Just to be clear, neither of us are selling these things. We're just trying to get board sposnsors to make/sell them, if there is enough interest. The purpose of this thread is to guage interest, if any, in this barrel.

Before somebody asks, YES this would be LEGAL if a manucturer does it. The 7615 is pump action, therefore this would be NON RESTRICTED. Short, centerfire, uses LAR-15 mags, NON RESTRICTED...you know you want one.:D

Interesting idea... Best of luck to you guys!! Now if you discover a way to have legally available 20-30 round magazines for the 7615P, I know a LOT of people would be very interested!

that horse has already been beaten enough d:h:

were talking short barrels here

Shortest barrel possible I'd be thinking of buying a 7615.

shortest possible would be a 12.5'', flush with the forend. factor barrels are 16.5''

The 7615 is based on the 7600 action, with four locking lugs?
Never rebarrelled one of those. Did fit a new barrel to a 760 (multi-lug). Basically, the barrel is threaded to fit the barrel extension, very much like fitting a barrel to an AR barrel extension, and the bolt headspaced to it.
Because of the floating barrel, contour would be non-critical.
Two short barrels could be made from a single blank, which would reduce costs somewhat.
I would think that 200-250 bucks should get the barrel fitted to the extension, chambered, headspaced, turned down, and muzzle threaded. Add the cost of the blank. Maybe $450 for the machining for the pair, plus the blank.

We looked at that project and figgered it may be not the best for us right now.
But I could. Provide some cheap 1\9 blanks for anyone that wants to take up the project

There are 10 shot magazines for the Remington pumps around.

bbb - I sent you an email about blanks.
