Hey,

I picked up a Remington 783 in .308, a little while back, and for the most part, I'm very pleased with the rifle. It shoots well, it's nice and light, and it doesn't seem to mind knocking around in the bush a bit. The only real problem is that the magazine seems to be pretty much glorified garbage. It only feeds the first two rounds of its four round capacity, and my attempts to disassemble it to try and identify the problem have resulted in its near destruction. I have decided that it needs replacing, and fast. My question is, where can I get different magazines? I looked around a little but keep coming up with Remington 700 magazines, and nothing for the 783. Any tips for making the current magazine work would help in the mean time.

Thanks!

that sucks, i own a 783 in .308 as well and I haven't had that problem. Hope you find another mag. I will agree that the rifle is pretty accurate out of the box and my 4 point buck didn't complain when he took a 180gr hunk of lead to the chest.

Mags are easy to disassemble. Slip a small flat blade screwdriver down between the body and the baseplate between the tab that locks them together on either side.

Cabs have mags.
