Remington 783

So those are the Talleys? I think Cabellas has them!

They are like Talley, but REM version made out of alloy. The base of the ring mounts directly to the receiver, instead of a base and ring. They are both extension type so you have more mounting room. They are the med 1" version. I'll try and take a pic tonight.
I got them from http://www.remingtoncountrycanada.com/ which is Gravells.

Just bought a set,, blued medium at Green Diamond, price wasn't bad $25., will give them a try, now I have to get some 7mm RM ammo to try out! Rifle should be here on the 29th. If they go any cheaper and with camo, I will be tempted to get the 30-06 also... Will say it is for one of my sons for hunting!!!
Edit,, just went on the cabela's website to make sure mine was 24" barrel (it is) and no more 7mm RM left neither has bass pro. I think all the new ones will come with a scope and they charge more for it.

Hitzy, what ammo would you recommend for deer in this rifle, I am ready to sight it in and want to do it with the same ammo I will use hunting, it is overkill for deer I know but this one will be doing multipurpose work, I will be reloading for it later but this year will be store bought ammo?

I'm loading Speer 165gr sp with really good results, for factory ammo I've always had good luck with Remington core-loct, I'd give those a go in 165gr flavor.

The Talley Lightweights are also made from an alloy.

Lightweight Alloy Scope Mounts

The one-piece construction of the Talley Lightweight Alloy Scope Mount is unique. The rigid design has no joint between the scope and the rifle. The Talley Lightweight unitized design eliminates the possibility of an "out of alignment" interface or "loose connection" between the ring and base of traditional two-piece designs.

Yes sir, 7000 series aluminum for the Talley, Remlin uses zamac, and usually can be found for half the price of Talley.

My amigo just put a set of the Rem. units on his S2. Zamac is tough alloy and the matte finish on his survived a 3' drop onto the concrete floor of the shop, right after he mentioned that the Remmy alloy was 5 times stronger than the aluminum ones. I'm in on that one. (Just a ring was dropped, not the gun with rings mounted..thank fook.)

They held up well so far on mine. I needed them too due to the long stretch between bases on these guns. I'll never understand why they spaced them so far apart on a solid top receiver.....you can see I have the front on mine facing to the rear and still barely gets it back far enough for my preference.

I have the 783 in 308 Winchester, it feels right, but the magazine I want to get a drop mag, that and try to sight her in for 500-750 plus yards if I can
