i would assume its entry level like the rifle, similar to the savage axis combo`s, just enough to get you going , but you would probably want to upgrade it sooner then later,
 
have a 783 in .223. I upgraded the scope right away, so cannot tell you if the factory one is good or bad. The consensus is they are not very good. What i can tell you is the rings SUCK. Figured i could get by with the factory rings, especially since a .223 is not heavy in the recoil department. Tightened them down to 25lbs and they would not hold the scope in one place, visible shifting after 30 shots. Definitely upgrade the rings.
 
I have the 783...nice gun...wish it had a wood stock but thats just me. Scope...use it for a backup or sell it for ten bucks...you can buy it at bass pro for 329 as of now..just looked
