In lieu of toothpaste what about that 'GoJo' pumice hand cleaner, would that do the trick to deburr the lugs/bolt ????

No, toothpaste is the standard for hard to reach in those rear lugs, and inside the rear of the rx , where you cannot reach, easy clean up later, it will heat up some , thats good , its working, try a bit at first if concerned.
It acts as an abrasive polish , reason why you don't want it in the bore.
Process, apply, cycle action for an hour or so. Clean up with warm water , and a brush, apply wd-40 or similar to move any water caught up in there.
Note, it will polish away blue where contact is made, but a touch up blue will fix that
