Remington 788 factory trigger

A buddy recently bought a .223 that someone cut 1/3 of the trigger tip off. Likely to fit it in a Ramline stock.Could a piece be welded on or just look for a factory trigger.Another option is a trigger shoe?

Fab'ing up a new over-shoe for the remaining trigger ain't hard. Havin' a good TIG welder sting the bugger on is key to a nice job.
