Does any one have any input on this model looking at the 22 hornet caliber. Have other calibers in the 700 model just wondering if there similar.
Thank you

Ive handled one, I dont care for them. For similar $ a guy can get a CZ 527 American and its three times the gun

I have to second that motion. I had a CZ american at the range the other day (a friend of mines) and it was a dream to shoot. It wasn't in .22 hornet, but .243 and I thought the ergonomics of it were perfect and It may very well be my next purchase.

I ordered one, will have it at the end of the month. I tried the CZ and it just didn't shoulder right for me. I looked at the Browning(too expensive) The Savage(single shot) and the Ruger too, they either didn't fit me right or I didn't like the sight plane. 799 is the only one that did it for me, and mine is a Hornet, but will get turned into a K-Hornet quickly. I have two of the Zastavas that are exactly the same as the 799,and i like them alot. The action on the one is a bit rough, but the other had been smoothed up by the previous owner, and it very smooth. Both are in 223,but I am rebarreling the rough one to 6mmPPC,then it will be sent away to have the action trued, and smoothed up.
I can't see why you wouldn't like one in the Hornet,so go for it!

Les,

I'll be interested to hear how you like it...these look like a nice little rifle. :)

I'll post up my thoughts when it gets here, It will go to the range and i'll run some regular hornet ammo thru it before it gets the K treatment. Probably about all i will do is polish the bolt and sear for a smoother action and trigger. Timney does make triggers for these too for those that don't do their own work. Les

To me the only justification for a "Remington" 799 is to get a CRF in .375 H&H or .458WM.

Speaking of the CZ's, I handled a couple of CZ-550's at WSS recently and I thought the workmanship done on the crossbolts was not that great. On each of the guns I checked, the wood was not inlet evenly; it was cut much deeper on the righthand side of the stock. Like I'm saying the head of the crossbolts were probably 1/4' deep into the wood. I would think they ought to be flush. If I were to buy one I think I'd actually replace the stock or replace the crossbolts somehow...

The one good thing was they had a .458 Lott, which is Uber cool in my books.

Thanks for the replys guys Violator 22 I would be interested on your comments when you receive yours. One other I have been looking for is the NEF superlight handirifle (synthetic) but cant seem to find one any where.
