Remington 870 20 inch Barrel

Definitely smooth bore with an improved cylinder and rifle sights. I bought it from a reliable gun dealer in Vancouver about 20 years ago.
I have a 60's wingmaster with beautiful tiger wood and a 28" blued barrel. This barrel fits it like a glove.

225 - 235 , the barrel has a cheap looking express finish.

However, I do like that finish for hunting.

I'll give you $265 including postage costs, send me a message if you want to sell it
Maybe stop cluttering multiple threads with offers and use the private messaging

Could be an 870 Police barrel. Has the tell tale marks of the factory mag. ext. clamp below the front sight base.
The Express finish is slightly darker black vs the parkerized Police finish, hard to tell looking at a picture.
I have seen several 14" bead sighted Express barrels marketed as parkerized Police barrels on the EE.

It’s threaded for chokes, fixed choke barrels aren’t my thing. Maybe a fixed mod choke could be an exception.

Wow, RS barrel factory threaded ?, that's a fuk.king awesome barrel, I'd make that a keeper.
I sent one of mine away to get threaded for Winchoke pattern, great for turkeys, but an expensive accessory to keep around for a few days of use every year

The design of the barrel and reciever mating area hasn't changed in over 60 years.

The only design change has been recent and that's the barrel lug position for the newer home security models

Factory Rem threaded Turkey barrel, came with fiber optic rifle sights as well. It was part of a 3 barrel 870 express package I bought around 2016-2017, 20” Turkey barrel, cantilever rifled slug barrel and a 28” vent rib. The Turkey barrel is so nice I never use the others, will never sell it. I like it that much.

That barrel has a parkerized finish like the 870 express guns . Value used 200 to 300 dollars . Interest in the barrel will be inversely proportional to the asking price .
Express barrels are not parkerized. They have a matte blue finish. His pictures do not look like parkerizing to my eyes 👀.

Well then it’s not an apples to apples comparison. His barrel is a fixed improved cylinder choke. Yours also appears to be more like 21-22”.

Longer sight radius, and a much more valuable barrel than the OP is gushing over.

^More inaccurate info^

The Special Field models were built to be lighter and faster-handling than standard 870s, and were intended specifically for upland hunting. They had shorter barrels, and shortened magazine tubes that held only three shells, rather than the standard four. The fore-end tube & fore-end were shortened as well, and they came with special straight stocks, rather than the standard semi-grip stocks. Special Fields came in 12 & 20 gauges (both chambered for 3" shells, I believe), and either 21" or 23" barrels, depending on the year. Earlier Special Field barrels had fixed chokes, later ones (mid-1980s and beyond) were threaded for Rem Chokes.

Though actual weight savings were pretty minimal (at least according to the specs in Remington's catalogs), the short barrels and special mag tubes & fore-ends did shift the center of mass back, which reportedly resulted in some very nicely-handling field guns (haven't yet had the chance to play with one myself).

But because of the special mag tube length, Special Fields can not accept other 870 barrels, only special barrels with guide rings set closer to the chamber. It is possible to move the guide ring on an 870 barrel, but you'll have to pony up for some professional gunsmithing work if you go that route The current-production 870 MCS combat shotguns also have 3-round magazine tubes, so you might be able to use MCS barrels without modifying them, but I don't know for sure that they're interchangeable. They also cannot use other 870 fore-ends, though a Special Field fore-end tube assembly can be used on a standard 870 of the same gauge. But as far as I'm aware, everything rear-ward of the barrel & mag tube (including the stock attachment) is normal, so you shouldn't have any issues with replacement parts and accessories.

Oooo look at me I can Google and cut 'n paste

Some of us rely on knowledge and experience, occasionally we slip up.
You'd be lost without Google, and your whole account is just a troll googling everything people post in the hopes of tripping them up.

Had a supervisor like that once, he was an as.s.hole too

Posting inaccurate information just dumbs down this form, nothing a$$hole about it.

Keep perpetuating myths if you want
