Remington 870, are the newer ones as bad?

Maybe it’s just me, but I am sick and tired of hearing on almost every thread how you seem to own multiple versions of every damn gun ever made. I don’t care if you own 500 guns. It doesn’t make you an expert, it just makes you stubborn and opinionated.
No new gun should require the buyer to have to polish the chamber, scrub the finish, apply wax ect. My first gun was an 870 12ga Wingmaster. Never had major issues with it. Still have it. Still works great. Most new express guns I have seen suck.
It's just a pump shotgun. Simplest of things. It should not cost a grand to make it work. If you want to spend that kind of money on a shovel it's sure up to you. I don't. Have a good day.

I can appreciate your experience, but since mine differs greatly, I still have confidence in recently manufactured 870 Wingmasters and Police shotguns.
That being said, I have no first-hand experience with their other offerings.
Just to be clear. We did not carry Police models. I owned 2 myself though. Sold both. These were ok though, so 2 for 2 with Police line so far. Wingmasters however are not what they use to be. Enjoy your 870's.
Just like it is just a snowblower or roto tiller or what ever tool
My 1965 wingmaster I bought new will do me my life time as will my honda snowblower and troy horse tiller
It is simple you get what you pay for
Over all who will spend more

Has nothing to do with one believes in numbers and experience don't lie. Have no clue what your reference to a parts list means.
Do you still own and use your first new shotgun, tiller, snowblower and automobile
Well I do even 50 plus years later. Then again I don't mind buying and paying for quality and take care of my stuff

Of course you don't. Just like anyone else who is trying to justify spending a grand on a shotgun. If you would make an effort and check the prices of the allegedly better quality line of products from Remington, along with Express, you could see that the prices for the same parts, despite alleged "better QC and higher attention to details" are the same as the ones made for Express. That simply explains why most of the marketing BS from Remington is just...that. BS. Of course most people are happy to buy it. That makes them feel better. Whatever. Over and out.
I had the pleasure of visiting Remington some years ago and seen them being made so know different
Only mistake remington made was calling the express a 870
Also replacement parts mean nothing with respect to what the express came with vs it's replacement part. If you knew anything about inventory management it is quite common to keep the highest quality part only since it will cover all models of 870 to keep your stocking costs down
There are many additional quality control steps a police and wingmster are subjected to that an express will never see
How many wingmaster chambers look like an express NONE

My apologies and NEVER have I said I was an expert. I figured that is why we are here to share our collections and experience. Sorry that bothers you and I don't post every shotgun thread. But you got it wrong it is more like strong willed and experienced and not from the internet
But since you started it actually I only ever got to 304
when my dad passed and I added his collection of which most were shotguns to mine but I have reduced the herd big time by 2/3 in the past 5 /10 years due to my age but still have enough to yack about them and most of our wingmasters are still with me. I have never collected one gauge of any make but the set of each from 410 to the 10ga if available like a bps for example An express can be in some cases a piece of crap IMO compared to a wingmaster and should never have been called a 870 there is where the problem started and I agree with you no gun should require polishing to make it work. Then again for the price if it goes bang and gets people shooting nothing wrong with that
Sorry if my posts offend you but there are not too many quality shotguns in pump version I don't still have a sample of since I loved pumps of all makes and have been collecting and working on them since the 60's in my dad's shop plus with an engineering background gives me a bit more knowledge around these than most . If that comes across as stubborn and opinionated so be it but it is NOT based on owning one 870 and from that determining that remington 870 shotguns are crap as some do here
IMO most unfortunately have never owned a true Remington 870 as us old guys know them . Sounds like you have had at least one so might know what I mean

How do you figure that when that is all that was produced for about 35+ years before the introduction of the express?! I know a few guys who think the Wingmaster and everything Remington is the be all end all to guns. Well in my experience it’s been the opposite. Every time I have had a gun fail in the field or on the range it has been a Remington with the exception of one Winchester, my first model 12 which suffered a broken firing pin. The Remingtons I have owned on the other hand? Broken firing pin on a 3 year old Wingmaster (bought new in 78) that had less than 100 rds through it, at least 6 model 1100 bolt forks, a complete 1100 recoil buffer spring assembly, countless o-rings, broken magazine shell stopper, brand new 1187 forend split completely in half coming apart in my hand on third shot ever fired through the gun, can’t recall the model now was so long ago but a Rem 22 single shot loaded with Remington ammunition that the bolt blew open on upon firing blowing a piece of brass into my eye I had to have removed at Emerg. That’s what I can remember off the top of my head but I know there is more and that is in well under a few thousand rounds total.
As I said the other day I do have one Remington, a model 3200 Trap. I bought it used within the past year and have not yet shot it to date. Only reason I bought it is I always liked the look of them and liked the way they seem to inkball targets. Took a whole lot for me to bite the bullet so to speak and put my hard earned money on an “R” product again. I may never shoot it or I may? Not sure yet, am almost afraid to pull the trigger on it because experience has taught me no matter how solid an “R” gun appears they seem to be for looking at only.

Now you’re trying to compare a gun made in an era before Remington started their dummying down of the firearms manufacturing business? An 870 in any model will never be a 31!!
Here is an all original mint condition 31TC currently listed for sale on another forum. Now that is a Remington I’d be happy to own and shoot!!
