I have the Remington 870 Marine Magnum and I recently notice some small grooves inside the barrel. This was the first time i have used it and I have no idea if this is normal or not? Is the barrel damaged or is this normal?

Thanks for any assistance anyone can give. I will upload some pictures if it will help.

Thanks!

It may be streaks of plastic from the wads. Not looking at it , it is hard to say. I had some streaks in the barrels of a SXS so I wrapped a few strands from a stainless steel cleaning scrubber around a bronze brush a few sweeps of the barrel , it was as shiney as if new . Might be worth a try even with just the bronze or brass brush.

couldn't get any better shots than this. The grooves run all the way down the barrel. I tried using a brush to clean it, as well as some solvent. No luck. Maybe i should try cleaning it again

I didn't fire slugs... was just 2-3/4" light game load

I think that's pretty much normal. My gauges have that too. They're not gouges, just discoloration from shot travel. Maybe yours is a bit more pronounced 'cause maybe it had steel shot fired throught it, or just because it's a chromed barrel inside and out, and the discoloration shows more than in a parkerized barrel.

Unless you can feel those gouges, don't worry about it.

look's like a imperfection in the chrome... if they run down the barrel straight and is indeed deep enough to feel i would talk to remington about it... poor prep pre chrome can cause thin spot's.
