Hello all,

I recently made a brilliant purchase of a Grizzly / Dominion Arms 12.5" 12ga and have noticed the newer Grizzlys are a bit more rough than the older models. And if you haven't picked up on it, the 'brilliant' part is sarcasm.

Now, I have a new mag follower on order from S&J but having an issue with physically feeding the rounds into the mag tube. It seems the shells sit "high" up when trying to load. I have to push the shell towards the top of the shotgun, then I am able to push the shell into the tube. It's a three step process for each shell.

I have polished the interior of the receiver where the shell is loaded, which was the recommendation of a local armorer. But it seems the shell still doesn't sit down in order to feed into the mag tube correctly. I'm not about to play with the left and right shell latches yet, as they don't look like fun to replace.. has anyone else seen this problem and found some form of solution?

I guess I got what I paid for though, you can't ask much from a $300 shotgun.

There have been modifications to the gun which they probably wouldn't accept back. I had to custom work a new forend as the 870 didn't directly fit.

I found a sharp burr all around the inside of the mag tube. It would let me load the tube, but I couldn't get them out even fiddling by hand. I took a half round file all around the inside of the tube where it enters the receiver (this was way beyond polishing). It took a bit but I got it. I completely de burred the entire gun, got it functioning perfect, and sold it. The guy I sold it to loves it. The quality on these guns seems mostly dependent on whether it was an 8 year old or a 9 year old doing the assembling that day

I have to agree with you dogzilla. My friend has an older Grizzly 12.5" and it runs awesome, which is why I'm a bit saddened by what I've got now.

Anyways, I have already deburred around the tube entrance.. that's what was recommended by an armorer friend of mine. 600 then 1200 grit, then polishing compound on a cotton cloth. It's smooth.. very smooth.
It kind of looks like it's the right and left shell latches, as even reassembly of the forend to the receiver is quite hard to do.
Problem is, is i've thrown out the original forend and stock already.

If anyone else has a hint or tip, please let me know.
edit: aaaand, just watched a video on restaking the shell latch. Fun stuff.

I've found on several grizzly shotguns that the shell latches were not staked properly... Could be your issue???

The quality control on these guns is atrocious. Some of the dominion arms stuff is good and some is down right dangerous, same goes for all the Chinese guns.
