I was looking for a 870 DM and of course Nechako Outdoors in beautiful Vanderhoof BC came to the rescue with the best price and service.
Here is the unboxing:
The box was green
It came with an astonishing amount of spacers already on the buttstock, plus extra spacers. Also included is a choke tube wrench (but no other choke tubes), some Allen keys of various sizes and the usual crappy style cable lock that comes with lots of guns and never gets used. Also in the pic is a roll pin punch that happened to be on my bench. And the pic is sideways, sorry.
The mags have these little prongs that stick off the top of them, and I was concerned they would bend easily but they actually seem fairly robust. The mags load and unload easier than any of the Turkish shotgun mags.
I propped the shotgun up on my man cave couch, it fits in well with the whiskey stains. It has a "breaching tube" on the end of it with little pointy ends. It's not nearly as terrifying as the pointy bits available on some of the Turkish semi shotguns, but it's frightening enough for most of us. I haven't been doing much door breaching the last few years, but if I ever get back into it, I know I am ready to go.
Just for fun, I swapped on a 26" 870 barrel to ensure it fits. It fits fine. So when my shorty mags arrive I will be good to go goose hunting. If I ever actually go goose hunting. I saw on another thread someone had put a 14" Dlask barrel on his, that's what this shotgun really needs to be uber tacticool. Although even with the 18" barrel it would make a great home defense gun for us in Canada where we can't store our guns loaded. And especially for more rural people like me who have predators creeping about at times. A mag full of slugs, one of 00 and one of some smaller shot will take care of bears, cougars, coyotes, wolves and pests pretty good. Just grab the appropriate mag for the task at hand, insert and blaze away. A flashlight mount is needed to really round it out.
I will hit the range tomorrow and launch a bunch of slugs, shot and buck through it, and let everyone know if I like it. I actually wanted the Mossberg more but I would rather have 10 6 round mags for the price of 3 Mossberg mags. And I don't think Mossberg has a dedicated 3 round mag for hunting so would have to pin the 5 rounders.
