Anyone do this? Apparently the new standard Remington 870s have a polymer follower with indents. In order to add a magazine tube extension, you need to remove the indents that don't allow the follower to go past it.

Just finished dremmeling out the indents. Took some time and some faith, but my mag tube extensions works flawlessly now, reliably feeding 7 shells. I tried to drill out the indents first according to a lot of FAQs but, the drill wasn't powerfule enough to punch through.

Anyone else try this? Thoughts?

Hi. An old used drill(You might call it the drill bit.) can be dull so it won't cut through metal. Sharpening drills and tooling is one of the things you learn on a machining course. Isn't hard, but you need to know the assorted angles and have a bench grinder. Like I say, you got the indents out, so it doesn't matter now.
I suspect Remington put the indents there in the first place to keep U.S. law makers happy. Extended shotgun mags are evil in some States. Silly really. You can't hunt migratory birds, Stateside, with more than 3 in the gun either.

Drilling them out, dremelling them out, or flattening them out with a socket are all pretty common methods of removing the detents (or buying an older 870 that doesn't have them).

Glad you figured it out and got it working! Let's see some pics of the finished product...

I still need to clean it up a bit. I think I need to blue the exposed metal to prevent rusting now?
