Remington 870 MCS

$2,000 if you bought the kit in the carry bag with both stocks, all three barrels, all three mag extensions, and the slings would be a decent price for sure.

Bad News For The O.P.

I went to Target Sports to shoot today but was feeling lazy so I didn't bother to bring my camera. I did find the MCS and it is tagged at $995. The shelf tag says 870 Police but it is the MCS.

It has the MCS fore grip, the throw on it is about half a normal 870. It has the two rails at the front. It also has the top rail. The barrel looked to be about 18" but I didn't bother asking the guys for a tape measure. The trigger group feels like plastic but I'm not sure. It's nothing like the metal trigger group on my 870P.

The MCS stock releases by a button on the side. It isn't spring loaded. Just push hard and it slides in. Once the pin is in the stock comes off straight up off of a "T" notch that holds it in place.

It really is quick to change to stock. Literally seconds. However, if you don't buy the kit with the extra stock and barrel etc. this is a completely useless function.

There's a bit of play in the fore end. Plus the stock has some play too. Not enough to affect accuracy but it clicks and clacks and is annoying. The gun also comes with rifle sights. I prefer ghost rings myself.

Overall it's about the same price as an 870P but it's not any better. If you're not going to get the full kit the quick change functions are useless. The only cool thing about the gun is the fore grip which you can now buy as a spare part.

The 870P is better value for the money.

If you need confirmation from the store itself give target sports a call. Dave, Eric, & Paul all saw me trying out the gun. They can confirm I was there. I'm the guy with the blue hair.

905-888-8288 is the number for target sports.

If I were the O.P. I'd try to get at least some of my money back since $2,000 is a horrible rip off.

What do you mean by this.......is there some kind of gear system to shorten the throw....or???????? The bolt still has to travel all the way back and forward, so I don't see how they could shorten the forearm movement without a gear type system......or is it just because the forearm is a different size?????

Just imagine taking your normal fore grip off and replacing it with one that's just way closer to the receiver. The mechanism is still going the same distance but since your hand is way closer it feels like half the work.

We didn't take it apart so I'm not sure if there's some kind of extra thing to it - but it just feels like the throw is way shorter. Not really sure why but that's how it feels. If you try it you'll feel it's different than the regular 870.

when u buy the fore end, it comes as an assembly with a shorter charging cradle and tube nut... if u know what the charging cradle is i speak of, picture there is a tube with 2 arms on it, cut 2 or 3 inches off the tube, and rethread for tube nut, look at pics of mine on previous page, it leaves 2 inches or so from fore end to magazine nut.;)

No doubt it's shorter, but if a guy was to pump with the hand at the rear of a standard or police length foreend..... What's the difference?
I just assumed it was shortened to run a shorter then 12.5 inch barrel.....

I think it was shortened to run the short barrels but when you're using it the throw feels shorter too. Maybe it's just a jedi mind trick but that's how it feels.

Um....the bolt carrier still has to travel the full distance back and forward again......they can put as much icing and sprinkles on it as they want......but the fact remains, it is just a shortened forestock.......I really wish I was more of a prick!......I could sell some stuff to people that would be out of this world.....ALAS....I will never be a Snake Oil Salesman...

Dude you could sell a $1,000 shotgun for $2,000. ;)

That is correct, but it also allows u to mount a flashlight if u have a standard length mag tube.

I stand corrected in the measurement of the barrel, I only looked at the 3 shot factory extension as a means to measure the barrel, it is a 18 barrel with mobile choke set-up, I guess I dropped the ball on this one. ;-)
