Remington 870 part, please identify.

Hi there,

I was taking a part my 870 Express Tactical to do some cleaning from the range the other day and a small metal pin connected to a spring fell out of my magazine tube. It's never happened before and I'm not sure where its suppose to go.

Part number and how to re-install it would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking at a blow diagram but can't seem to ID the parts.

Its your mag cap detent and spring "it needs to be staked in with special tool" Brownells sells the tool

Yep thats it, spring was attached to the thinner part. Ah I see where it goes now, so I need a tool to put this in place? Is there any harm is in just packing it back with my hands?

You need the tool and it needs to be stake in or it will fly out again and never be seen. It will work with out it, but you mag tube or cap may come loose.
