I have a 12ga Remington 870 pump super mag 3-1/2"
It's a work horse, I have had it for almost a decade, it's been hunted hard and maintained well. With the age I am starting to look at maybe needing to source some replacement parts or spares. Other than going to a Smith is there any good online source for parts for these shotguns.. most site only have a modest amount of furniture available, not mechanical parts...

So your suggestions are appreciated of site to check out, also there isn't really any forms that I could find on these classic shotguns... general discussion, tips, comments or pictures are welcome as I think this a shotgun (action/model) is deserving of at least one thread.

Why do you think you need spare parts??
I have a few dozen 870's some with yes 250,000 rounds and never a thing replaced and bought in 69
I would buy parts only if they break plus parts righty now don't exist since remington sold out and if they do way over priced
Cheers

3macs1 has a point.

There was a time it was easy to get 870 parts from Gravel Agency ... you just went to their website or called them and ordered what you needed.

However, since Remington went bankrupt .... parts have dried up and Gravel Agency doesn't have much in stock any more.

I would wait 6 to 12 months and till 870 pats are coming into Canada again. Once parts are available again .... it will be easy to order online from Gravel:

Take this for what it is worth
In 1987 I seen the new 870 and wasn't impressed with the changes so figured I best part out three wingmasters and stash some parts for the future and I did
Guess what it is almost 2022 and I never needed even one item out of the stash and I pretty much shoot wingmasters all the time
No the parts are not for sale sorry
Cheers

Yep if one had to stash a firing pin and ejector and extractor and that would be it IMHO unless you have a plastic mag tube follower
Don't know if they even sell the kits any more but I kept some of them also for every gauge and again most are never needed

35 yrs of fixing firearms and servicing1000’s of wingmasters back in the 70’s80’s 90’s they were popular on the ata trap field plus all the hunters would bring them out on league nite . Not many problems other than the above mentioned

As stated, you probably won't need anything, ever. But I'm like you, and I like to have contingencies lined up just in case.

Personally, I'd start up accounts on some of the shotgun specific forums out there. There's a lot of interesting content, not to mention the friendly and knowledgeable (and well-supplied) guys you'll come across.

As an item for discussion, what parts are different on the SuperMag from the 3" 870?

The only part I ever had break in an 870 was a firing pin...same with a model 12 and my first model 12 had more rounds through it than all my 870's combined. I'd just find another 870 the same as you have and keep it for a back-up gun. That way you are still shooting if one goes down until you can source the part(s) you need to get your main gun up and running. Or you can rub 3Macs1 the right way and get him to part with one of his Leo HarrisonIII styled parts tool boxes so you are prepared for any failure over the next 55 years! ;)

Nope don't have a tool box for the 870 but have one for the 1100 jammed full of parts :)

I have a few 870s.... early on I bought a few spares ( firing pin, ejector ect)..... 30 Years later they are still there. I would recommend spare beads, as they have a habit of coming off at 5am on the way to the blind. Also a spare mag tube spring and followers. Not because they fail, but because at 5am, they fly out of guns by accident specially to newbies you are leading a gun to.

I have never had a firing pin fail or an ejector. Testimony to the superior design and well made parts.

I have been messing with Wingmasters for about 30 years now, I really love the design and the feel of them, although I do not use them for hunting and rarely shoot them on the trap field.
I have replaced an extractor on one( maybe it was an ejector??) about 15 years ago.
I don't think that is tooo bad considering all the different models and and year dates I have owned.
I sold most of them off, and now only have 4 , which II use too loan out to shooters at the annual barbeque and trap shoot we have at the club.

Thanks all the perspectives, insight and suggestions. Very helpful.

Alpining I was looking for a new fiberoptic bead.. and action parts / barrels... spare extractor and spring wouldn't hurt as I have had some malfunctions while hunting recently... round got stuck in chamber and wouldn't eject.

Normally crap shells not the gun and nothing a bit of polishing of the chamber with some steel wool and oil will not fix

Well you know what they say 3macs1 ,first prize is an 1100 second prize is 2...:)

I will take as many as you will give me in the small gauges or 12ga with choke tubes :)
They bring a nice dollar still and not hard to sell
I have one here a 85 model NIB that I won years ago 1100 12ga skeet
Cheers

Download an exploded view parts list and just contact Remingtom dealers. Should be able to bring in any parts (that are currently available).

Maybe Gravel might be a good place to start.

I don’t think that there are any new spare parts available. Only takeoffs and NOS sitting around some shops.

I love how Gravel have the exploded view for parts identification but then:

a) don’t identify the parts; and
b) put the Remington part number in the description which isn’t listed in the parts diagram. :bangHead:

Pure genius!

Better grab that recoil pad for $75! Won’t last long at that price.

Are these guys still the distributor? Zero mention of RemArms on their sub forum.
