I am the proud owner of an elderly Rem 870 Wingmaster 12 ga. with a 2&3/4 only chamber. Is is possible to convert this into something like a Dominion short bear defense gun? It would need a short barrel, pistol grip, and composite forestock. Can it be done? Can it be done legally?

yes it can be done, stocks and barrels are not hard at all to change.
as for the barrel, you can only cut yours to 18''. any shorter it is a prohibited device. however you can BUY a manufactured barrel in any lenght you want, but the shorter ones get pricey. remeber to keep the overall lenght greater than 26'' and your good and legal to go.
