Remington 870 RemChoke Barrel

I have a 1958 remington 870 wingmaster. I was curious if a newer invector barrel would fit on or if I would need to do some modifications.

wing master bbl will go on a 1951 wing master or a 2010 wing master if it's not a 3 " receiver and a " bbl you will only be able to shoot 2 3/4 " ammo
it will also fit most express remingtons

No worries, any Wingmaster receiver will take a Wingmaster barrel and in fact I don't think I have ever seen an Express that will not fit a Wingmaster barrel either.
As Struff55 stated, even a 2 3/4" barrel will fit on a 3" receiver.

The only possible issue might be the Magazine Cap detent system. The old barrels used a ball bearing detent in the barrel ring, the new barrels use the ratchet/saw teeth on the mag spring retainer.

Thanks for the clarification ..... Curious, so who sells new 870 barrels and that are threaded for Invector chokes?

Remington 870 barrels are normally threaded for RemChokes.

You can shoot 3 inch with that barrel in a 2 3/4 inch reciever safely but you won't be able to eject the fired hull with the 2 3/4 inch ejector. You can use a dremel and shorten the 2 3/4 ejector I have done that many times. Those Rem choke standard barrels suck heavy and unbalanced only exception is the light contour barrel. I really think those heavy Rem choke barrel helped Remingtons demise. They turn a sweet well balanced gun into a 2x4.
