Remington 870 Scout Mount.

I was thinking about this idea early, more of as a concept then something I want to do.

On the ribbed 870 barrels you have a fair bit of metal on the rib, something that you can easily drill and tap into. So I was thinking how come no one has ever done this and mounted a scope on it scout style?

I suppose it would just be easier to drill and tap your receiver.

Sounds like a workable idea, although I confess I've never considered an EER scope on a shotgun. Jeff Cooper's first scout rifle was made up with an extended eye relief scope mounted to the rib of a modified Remington M-600 rifle, and that rib wasn't even metal. I think there are a couple of mounting options using the rib; that is finding a set of rings that can attach directly to it or to drill and tap it for a Picatinny base.
