Bluing is merely controlled rust that is stopped when it reaches a certain point.
Never mind parkerizing - buy a can of Brownell's Moly-Teflon Baking Laquer and do it yourself....

Is that the same coating you had on that bolt action you showed me at your place back in '04? It looked like a very easy maintenance piece of kit as I recall. I've been going with a lot of stainless these days (though I don't know of a stainless 870). I don't really mind spending a few moments wiping down at the end of the day and applying a little CLP. becomes part of the ritual. Still, I can definitely appreciate good low maintenance or forgiving options.
