Remington 870: To what degree are "factory only" jobs achievable by a good gunsmith?
I keep hearing that the Remington 870 has to "go back to the factory" for certain things, including: Shell stop staked in, ejector staked in, magazine tube replacement.
Being that this is Canada and there are "service centers" (though I imagine they're just gunsmiths who have been certified by Remington), you're going to have to trust a gunsmith to remove or replace the parts.
Are these things generally achievable by a competent gunsmith in Canada? Or do they legitimately need to go back in to NY to get ejectors staked or tubes replaced?
