remington 870 trap

I shot an 870TB trap for a short period years ago and though it was a real good target crusher I just found it was a bit light and the balance just wasn't to my liking. Reliable though and yes the old Remington trap choked stamped barrels really inkspotted targets.

I have an 870TC ... but someone replaced the original step-ribbed 30" barrel with a 26" Wingmaster Remchoke barrel.
Fun to shoot Skeet with.
Would love to find an original barrel to put back on it.

Don't have a Remington 870TC, have 2 Express', 1 of which sees regular Trap duty. Despite the horror stories of the past few years Remington seems to have fixed most of the quality control issues on them, and this year they are offering a lifetime warranty on their guns.

I have an early 90's 870 Express as well ... use it for waterfowl and have absolutely "0" problems with it since new.
When I do shoot Trap it's with either a DT-10 32" Sporter or a 30" 391 Parallel Target.
Would love to get the TC back into Trap with the proper 30" Trap barrel.
My very first round of Trap was in 1967 with a Remington Trap gun ... responsible for me catching the shotgun bug (not to mention dogs, decoys, duck calls, duck boats, decoy carving and all the other stuff that goes with it !

870 classic trap arrived.

The fit and finish is very good. The wood is gorgeous and the shotgun is very aesthetically appealing.

The action is smooth and everything works as expected.

It patterns high around 70/30. Patterns are tight and mostly centred horizontally.

The recoil pad looks great but isn't as effective as more modern ones.

Great shotgun.

My son shoots a custom built Wingmaster, and I shot TB's for years, loved them!
Got rid of my last one last summer, IIRC I owned 7 - TB's and had a TC as well.....

I have an 870 classic trap; 30" barrel. I bought barrel weights from briley & extended chokes LF & XF; crushes targets anywhere on the field. I'm currently looking into either getting any adjustable comb cut or paying for a custom stock with left hand palm swell. I'm not sure what it'd cost.. anyone know of a place in Southern Ontario (niagara region) within an hour or two drive to get that done?

Now that you've had it for a while, how is it working for you?

Vic Tomlinson in Stevensville Ontario does adjustable combs at very reasonable prices.

HI. Just got a Winchester model 12 with vent rib and a cutts on the end. I have a line on a choke tube , I think. The spreader choke is a bit loose for trap!

I still have my original tc trap. Nicest wood I have ever seen on a 870
Tons of rounds through it but it still looks and performs as it did new
Common mods of the day like extended forcing cone, ported barrel, weights and adjustable comb.
It will die with me
Oh yes has it's original 30" barrel and the optional 34" barrel also. She is a smoke pole with that puppy since it is tighter than the standard 0.042 30" barrel
Cheers
